Wayanad trip, part 1.

Wayanad has innumerable possibilities for a Photographer. One can not visit all the places  in a single day or two. Some three to four years  back I had visited a few places- Thirunelly temple ad Pookot Lake. At that time, I shot with a P&S, but the results were not satisfactory. Have plans to visit there again & again to fill my collection as well as fulfill the ambition.
This time my plan was to visit Banasur Sagar Dam. Banasur sagar Dam is the second largest earthen Dam in Asia & a treat to watch. On the way Karalad Lake was also covered. At the end of the trip we went to Thirunelly temple, but time was running out- we could not shoot to our satisfaction.

Venugopalaswamy Temple at KRS backwaters.

There was a huge temple dedicated to Lord Venugopalaswamy, being submerged in the backwaters of KRS. Whenever the water levels fall to around 60ft, the temple was visible and people used to throng there.
After 2002, Khoday foundation has taken up the work of shifting the temple to a  more secure place and it is being reconstructed  on the northern banks of the river, a few meters away from the place where it was earlier. The work constitutes rebuilding the temple with remaking several parts of the temple, which were damaged due to water and sand. The work is still going on and on yet to be complited....
But the site is a treat to spend an evening as well as to shoot some Photographs. I visited the place  a couple of times with my camera and the results are here. I still have plans to visit there in the months of Jan & Feb to capture the beautiful Blue sky as backdrop  to the temple.  Click on the image to enlarge:
