This is not my usual tour story, but en experiment with canon ef 40mm pancake lens. Along with are images shot with Canon efs 55-250mm is lens. both series are shot at a same place- Karanjikere, Mysooru.
I have been an admirer of pancake lens always, for its small size. Once upon a time I had dreamt of procuring canon 28mm f 2.8 lens, but couldn't. It's effective focal length was 44.8mm [ or rounding off- 45mm]. This 45mm focal length was exactly same as my old and veteran war horse Canon QL which was gifted to me by my uncle. I was very comfortable with the focal length and used that camera extensively. The Canon Canonet QL possessed a bright 1.7 lens[fixed -45mm focal length]. The camera was very robust and heavy[ 890gms] and I used to get sharp images even at 1/20 [ there was no stabalization at that time - in the 90's]. The Digital era started and I was searching for a suitable alternative and this lens has been an answer to some extent [ not fully because of its focal length-64 mm effective]. When I searched for canon 28mm f 2.8 it was too late and the lens manufacturing had stopped.
Canon EF 40mm STM lens
This lens- Canon 40mm gives an equivalent FL of 64mm and can never be 45 mm as I liked, but it covers another territory of portrature as a short telephoto lens, which also gets my attention! Tele lenses have been my favourites all the time, and I found this lens usefull. So, while I bought this lens for Express Photography, I have tried to shoot some landscapes and sceneries also. Here are the outcome. I felt like shooting with Telephoto lens [ 55-250mm IS] also and did the same.
This, in any means NOT a review of the equipment. Those who want to know more about the lens may search elsewhere. More photos to come in this catagory soon.
