WAYANAD TRIP, Part 2.

18th March 2012.

Last year, we had visited some part of Wayanad & this time we planned to cover southern part of the District ,through NH 212( Calicut road). This time, two of our teammates could not join us due to personal problems and rest of us- Anand, Shreenivas, Pavamana and me started finally.

This rock mountain was seen on the leftside of the road & I think it must be the one, which houses Edakkal aves. I am not sure.

Chundale Tea Estates:

After Kalpetta, the District HQ, there is a place fully covered with beautiful tea plantations, reminding Ooty. The Estates belong to Harisons Malayalam Tea Company and open to all. Anybody can enter in & take Photographs! That's what we wanted! We shot and shot- to our satisfaction. Lush green and clear blue sky greeted us. While returning we shot somemore Pics, this time with houses and roads etc.The red colour of the roofs complimented the scenes.

Chundale can be easily recognized, suddenly we see lush greenery of Tea plantations.

Entering into the Estate, I followed the pathway up to a small hillock and this shot was what I got.

From that pathway,I could see the road, NH 212, the curve was very attractive and I clicked.

On the leftside of the main road, there is a Bungalow, which caught my attention. The live green of the plants and the red coloured terrace compliment  the vertical pattern of trees.

At one place,  there were houses on the top, in the middle and at the bottom of a small hillock. The red roofs play in the length and breadth of  green.

Roads or pathways are always my interest, so this can never be forgotten. 'Road to  Paradise' -  shall I dare to call it?

Lakkidi View point:

Half km from Pookote Lake, towards Calicut there is a view point, from where one can have the grand view of  Thamarassery Ghat road, which descends from top-Lakkidi to down- Adivaram and then proced to Calicut. The descend is very feary and steap to travel but a marvel to watch and shoot!.

This may sound ridiculous, but I liked the yellow strips on the road, which is contrasting the blue of the sky and dull brown of the Mountain.

The turn on the road caught my attention, To add some life I included some tourist vehicles.

Anand and Pavamana, always very curious  and hunting for good angles wore similar shirts, which  are in line with the horizontal line of the Wall.

Hairpin curves nos 2,3 and 4 of Thamarassery Ghat, framed. I stole this angle from Pavamana's shot.

The clear view of the previous shot. Observe the steepness of the  Ghat.

The road below us is seen like this. I included this tree branch to show the depth.

The same road now seen clear.

A truck was passing on the road below, the diagonally run lines  on the road caught my attention.

Look at the steep slope  of the hill.

The road with other side, a plain area showing the end of Ghat section.

To get the comparision, I have tried to included both the roads-  one, on which we are standing, and the other, below  us.

This shot was a trial for my tele lens. This  curve was far away from us.

Again the yellow lines on the road attrated me  and I shot a couple of shots, both Horizontally and Vertically.

Pookot Lake:

The Lake is smaller compared to that of Ooty and less crowded. it is very picturesque and a delight for
Photographers. Boating facility is there but we never opted for it rather than taking pictures. We had our meals there- Photographically.

Usually I like waterbodies, mountains, greenery with some slope roofed buildings. When I see all the above mentioned  items in one place, need I say more? I went on shooting...

Soon I learnt the value of  white boats' presence. They are playing a vital role in these pics.

As I said before, the tiles roof of the building caught my attention, resulted in a couple of shots.

Lotus leaves in the foreground enriched this composition.

It is always good to say farewell  ih the form of flowers, we left Pookot.

 Karapuzha Dam:

On the way to Kalpetta, while returning, we saw a board directing to Karapuzha Dam and followd it. The place was not as attractive as we thought- we were under the impression of the Banasura Dam. True, everyday is not Sunday, and also every place is not a paradise. We responded accordingly and shot just a couple of pictures.

While returning through Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, we observed some people, stopping thair vehicles and watching interestingly here and there. There were Elephants! We responded with our DSLRs:

It has been mandatory to visit Hangala Lake, whenever we touch Gundlupet and try to record Sunset  there. This time also we went there, but unfortunately Sun had set just some minutes ago. So, it was a practice session for me (at least.,) to try my new Speedlite for this shot-

Still We felt  this tour was not complete. One day in the future We shall plan another trip to Wayanad to shoot rest of the places. Personally, I need some more trips  to the same places, because there are innumerable possiblities for Photography and a mere lifespan of a human is insufficient, I worry.

   Goodbye.

  2. Although the blog owner is an ace photographer - I still mustered courage to review and comment on the same.

Photo No.4 - beautiful shot , Would have loved if the people were missing and a single vintage car cruising on the same road

    Photo No.6 - Nice photo

Photo No.7 - Since the road ending is missing in the frame , I assume it leads to hill like cloud formations aka paradise.

Photo No.9 - I like winding roads as well , makes for good shots

    Photo No.10 - Stripes--Funny!!!

Comparing Photo 13 & 14 - how come 13 does not have any vehicles while 14 has lots of them

Photo 15 - I like the yellow lines on either ends - which has a bit of curve as the road unwinds

Photo 18 - If we could only make those high tension wires disappear..

    Photo 24 - Beautiful shot!!!

Photo 30 - If only the bike dis-appeared from the shot

    I like Photo 33 a lot!!!!don't know why????

Photo 34 is a good shot - I liked it

I like Photo 40 a lot - although not on par with b.asura dam - has some attraction with it.

What was the distance of those elephants?

For the last photogarph I tilted the laptop screen to create dark effect - Photo then looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
