May 6, 2016.
It was a sudden plan, the idea of visiting Kalasa- in the last month, April 2016. The summer was at its full peak, and we were searching for a cooler place to visit- thus zeroing in to Kalasa and Kudremukha.
We started at 8 A.M. from Mysooru, moved through Hassan-Mudigere-Kottigehara-Sunkasale and reached Kalasa at around 2.30 P.M. The route from Mudigere to Kalasa is spectacular and a visual delight.
The Coffee Corner near Banakal Pete:-
There is a Coffee shop on the roadside before Banakal Pete where we stopped for some refreshments. I started taking pictures from there itself.
The Unique idea of placing the water tank over a tree impressed me and I recorded it.
The birthplace of Hemavathi river:-
After crossing Kottigehara, the road becomes more curvy and the terrain- more hilly. There is a place -where the river Hemavathi originates, before Javali village. The place is serene and calm, which aided my shooting.
There is a small temple dedicated to lord Ganesha. A brief history of the place has been written on a board nearby.
From hereon, I kept my Camera switched on and started shooting the scenic views.
Kelagoor Estate:-
The road continues and we reached Sunkasale. the weather became cooler, completely opposite to what we were experiencing at Mysooru. Suddenly, the shade of green changed and we were passing through a Tea estate. It was the famous Kelagoor estate, where our cinema makers happen to throng by every now and then.
Ballalarayana Durga:-
There is a Fork in the way, where the left drift leads to a hill range by name Ballalarayana Durga. the place is frquented by trekkers. There is an ancient Fort at the top of the hills, but now the ruins only.
